Introducing Massimo Bertoldo, Graphic Designer at Exein

Introducing Massimo Bertoldo, Graphic Designer at Exein

My passion for design began in childhood with Lego, especially the Bionicle robot series. I loved disassembling robots to create stronger, more aesthetically pleasing ones. This creative spirit has stayed with me since then.

As I grew older, my passion for creation evolved through The Sims. While playing, I focused entirely on the creative aspect—building fancy houses, renting them out, and designing characters. The gameplay itself held little interest for me; it was all about the act of creation.

This love of creation naturally evolved into a passion for graphics. I first noticed it with collectible cards and comics—Yu-Gi-Oh, Dragon Ball, and other children's cards. I was fascinated by their artwork and collected them purely for their visual appeal.

High school came next, where I opted for the scientific track. However, I quickly realized it wasn't the right fit for me. While I struggled with scientific subjects like mathematics and physics, I excelled in Art. It was there that I discovered my passion for Pop Art and contemporary styles.

At university, I pursued a mixed curriculum in product and communication design. Marketing also caught my interest. I soon found myself captivated by the interplay of communication, marketing, and graphic design.

This passion led me to Rome, where I pursued a hands-on master's degree at ISIA, focusing on these subjects with an emphasis on graphic design. This experience allowed me to deepen my expertise in the field.

I've had diverse work experiences. I interned at graphic design studios and worked in a company's marketing team. I found the marketing experience more enjoyable than the design internships. While both environments had their merits and drawbacks, my positive experience on a marketing team fueled my enthusiasm to pursue it further.

How did I end up at Exein? To begin with, I'm passionate about staying informed, especially in the technology field. For the past four or five years, I've followed all of Apple's conferences and tried to stay updated on various innovative brands and products. I must admit that I'm also the go-to person in my family for setting up computers or fixing malfunctioning phones—I genuinely enjoy it 😄. For someone my age, I'm quite comfortable with technology.

When the opportunity to work for Exein arose, several factors aligned perfectly: the chance to work in a company, the opportunity to work in tech, and the prospect of joining a marketing team. These elements converged, convincing me it was the right move at the time. And it truly, deeply was.

What I love about Exein is the people I work with. Getting along with colleagues is crucial, especially when you spend so much time together. I'm learning on the job and receiving excellent guidance, which I deeply appreciate. While our overall theme stays consistent, we vary our approach even as we focus on the same topics. Security is not an easy subject to discuss, but I believe we communicate it effectively and comprehensibly.

Reflecting on my journey—from building with Legos and designing in The Sims to studying and working in the dynamic fields of design and technology—I realize that every step has led me to this chapter at Exein.

Learning new things daily in such a stimulating environment turns each day into an adventure. I'm lucky to be surrounded by passionate, talented individuals who inspire my continuous growth.

Here's to the future and the endless learning and growth that lie ahead!
