Introducing Marcello Coletta, Financial Controller at Exein

Introducing Marcello Coletta, Financial Controller at Exein

During my high school years, I often felt uncertain about my direction and unsure of where my true passions lay. However, as I matured and reached the age of 19, I began to open up more and experienced a shift in my ambitions. I chose to study economics in Italy at university and then go "abroad." The uncertainty of where to go or how to get there was daunting, yet I was excited to immerse myself in new cultures and ways of life. This desire to venture into the unknown served as a strong indicator of my growing ambition and my commitment to a career aligned with my interests and values.

University brought both challenges and growth. I discovered and excelled in management control, setting the course for my future career. As soon as I got my bachelor's degree, I finally moved abroad, choosing the international city of Barcelona for a master's in business, applying my bachelor's subjects in a practical context.

I soon started a consulting career working as an auditor in a highly competitive environment. This invaluable experience allowed me to interact frequently with clients, honing my communication skills and gaining proficiency in public speaking.

After years in this role, I received an enticing offer from an international hardware and software company. As I have always been fond of technology, I decided to make the move. This marked the beginning of an exciting four-year adventure. During this period, I had the opportunity to meet and learn from mentors who shared invaluable technical skills with me. This also marked the commencement of my journey in the tech industry.

Fast forward to six years later, I found myself longing for new opportunities back home in Italy. It took some time and patience, but eventually, I crossed paths with Exein. The startup nature of the company intrigued me, and after a comfortable and promising interview, I decided to accept the position they offered me.

In retrospect, I would offer three pieces of advice to anyone embarking on a similar career journey. Firstly, the experience of working or studying in a foreign country is invaluable for personal and professional growth. It provides unique perspectives and challenges that can enhance your adaptability and problem-solving skills.

Secondly, the pursuit of knowledge should be a continuous journey. In an ever-evolving business landscape, staying informed and acquiring new skills can be a significant differentiator and driver of success.

Lastly, actively listening to your colleagues and learning from their diverse experiences can enrich your understanding and contribute to a more inclusive and dynamic work environment.

In our dynamic and information-rich era, every interaction or meeting presents a learning opportunity. Therefore, as I progress in my role at Exein, I am committed to fostering a culture of learning and open-mindedness, while proactively seeking and embracing opportunities for growth and innovation.
